 Home Equity Conversion Mortgage (HECM) Face-to-Face Interviews - Information Thursday, May 03, 2007 This Mortgagee Letter informs Federal Housing Administration (FHA) approved lenders and Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) approved housing counseling agencies that FHA will now allow prospective HECM borrowers the option to meet face-to-face with the lender and/or HECM counselor or to participate in loan origination and counseling activities by telephone. This new policy is effective immediately. Home Equity Conversion Mortgage Program - Information Thursday, September 28, 2006 The purpose of this Mortgagee Letter is to clarify housing counseling requirements for prospective Home Equity Conversion Mortgage (HECM) borrowers. This Mortgagee Letter clarifies who must receive HECM counseling, and what activities a HECM lender may perform prior to a prospective HECM borrower receiving HECM counseling.
